The Earthship in Ger, France, is the first fully official residential Earthship in Europe. It has been designed by Mike Reynolds of Earthship Biotecture based in Taos, New Mexico, USA who also project managed its construction with Kevan Trott, his European Associate.

The earthship is now available for rent. This is the first opportunity an earthship holiday has been available outside America.

The Trott family (Gillian, Kevan, Elliot and Oscar) undertook the task of acquiring full official planning permission for the plot in Ger November 2006, began the build in April 2007 and completed it exactly one year later.

The French earthship is a fully furnished, 3 bedroomed gite with a kitchen and bathroom. It has the fixtures and fittings of any other more conventionally designed house, but with an eco-twist. This rental offers the opportunity of experiencing earthship living first-hand and the viability of making it a blue print for large-scale sustainable developments in the future.

Ger is a charming rural village in the heart of Normandy only 1 ½ hours drive from the ports. There are extensive forests in the area and endless walking and cycling routes nearby through the beautiful Normandy countryside. This is an extremely unspoilt corner of Europe and one which guarantees a peaceful holiday break. Earthship France Locations

« La maison qui prend soin d’elle-même » L’Earthship de Ger, France, est le premier Earthship officiellement destiné au logement en Europe. Il a été conçu par Mike Reynolds, de l’entreprise Earthship Biotecture basée à Taos, au Nouveau Mexique (USA), qui a aussi dirigé la construction avec Kevan Trott. L’Earthship est maintenant ouvert à la location. C’est la première fois qu’un Earthship en dehors d’Amérique est disponible. La famille Trott (Gillian, Kevan, Elliot et Oscar) a entrepris la tâche de décrocher un permis de construire officiel sur un terrain de Ger en novembre 2006, a commencé à construire en avril 2007 et l’a terminé exactement un an plus tard. L’Earthship français est totalement équipé, maison de 3 chambres avec cuisine et salle de bain. Il possède les équipements de n’importe quelle autre maison au design plus conventionnel, mais avec un aspect écologique. Sa location offre la possibilité d’expérimenter le séjour dans un Earthship de première main ainsi que la viabilité d’en faire un modèle de développement durable à grande échelle dans l’avenir. Ger est un charmant village rural au cœur de la Normandie à seulement 1 heure et demie de route des villes portuaires. Il y a de vastes forêts dans la région et d’innombrables chemins de randonnée à pied ou à vélo au sein de la jolie campagne normande. C’est un coin d’Europe extrêmement préservé et qui garanti une pause paisible pour les vacances.
